A smart solution for work and dining, this chair actually started as outdoor furniture piece for a residence designed by Eero Saarinen and Alexander Girard. The pair asked Charles and Tay Eames to design chair that was light enough to move from indoors to out and strong enough to withstand the elements. The timing was perfect, as the Charles and Ray Eames were experimenting with aluminium, which had been strengthened, refined and made more affordable since WWII.
